UNFUN BIO
Unfun Records began in 2000. The love of music and a car accident created the subtle mixture of genius and insanity that is needed for creative obscurity. At Unfun, the music we support is life sustaining; the beginning and end of life. We pride each and every release in the hopes that it will spawn success in every niche. As a whole, Unfun stands up for and respects the rights and privileges of its bands and associates while aiming to help bridge musical communities. We are not a genre label, nor are we against any types of music. Our main goals are to support bands in their search for their target audience, through the release of quality media, while undercutting mainstream pricing and keeping a DIY atmosphere in each project we are involved with.
The past 5 years, we have fallen in love with a wide variety of music, joyfully watching the careers of bands such as Under A Dying Sun and Time Spent Driving blossom into maturity and basking in the sorrow of their departures. We support local scenes, without placing pressure on the bands themselves, giving them room and time to expand, like bands such as Abhorrance or Stalins War, whos careers have just begun.
The music scene is an ever-changing one, with bands going from hot to not in a matter of months, however one thing we stand by is the love of music outside of the limiting spectrum that time places on everything. Music can be timeless.
As new media changes more, and as music becomes more free, people are becoming more and more exposed to music of all kinds. The only constants that remain are the conglomerate businesses, who determine what music will be played in malls, restaurants and bars. Big business can often be blamed for the manipulating audiences and artists alike, through the lure of fantasy and luxury, using music as a method of control as opposed to music as a positive outlet and entertainment in pure form.
